Becoming a Rider

Who Rides With Us?
RDA Peninsula provides equestrian activities for people with a wide variety of disabilites (Intellectual and Physical).

Every new rider must have their medical consent form signed by their medical practitioner. This is to ensure that it is safe for the individual to participate in the programs.

Programs are developed and supervised by trained coaches using trained horses and trained volunteers.

There is an annual, non-refundable registration fee payable to RDAV via RDA Peninsula. Please refer to the ‘Renewal’ Rider or ‘New’ Rider application form for fee’s relevant to you. In addition, each Centre charges a small fee per session.

Mandatory Cancellation of Sessions
Sessions will be cancelled when the temperature is over 30 degrees. Sessions may also be cancelled for other reasons; for example, on rainy days, extreme fire danger etc. If the session is cancelled the Coach of the day will make the decision to cancel and notify the school or organisation.

School Holiday Programs
Currently, no programs are provided during school holidays.

What You Need
Please attend appropriately dressed for a physical activity. Shorts or skirts are not suitable; long pants are best. While waiting for a session to commence, a sunhat, or a rain jacket may be appropriate as is warm clothing in winter. Footwear should be sturdy and enclosed; thongs or sandals are not suitable.

Most centres provide mandatory helmets and boots to wear while riding.

Be Sunsafe; please wear Sunscreen.
